 Welcome To The Journey Church
Minimize

Thanks for stopping by The Journey website. We are glad that you are interested in what new churches are doing and we hope you will learn much about our new church as you "journey" through our site and its links.

We believe that "The Journey" is an image for today and relates well to the process of the Christian faith. Think of some of the automobiles today and their names - Odyssey, Pathfinder, Explorer, Expedition - they all are journey images. Consider the Amtrak ad, "The journey is more important than the destination." Again, here is a journey image. And how many tune in week after week to Survivor, to follow the journeys of those trying to win the million dollars. Journey is an image we are familiar with.

The journey also can be used to describe our walk with God. When one begins to seek God, you begin a journey of faith. It will have its ups and downs, but it will also be tremendously exciting and challenging. Our mission is to call people to journey with God through faith in Jesus Christ. We believe that it is Jesus Christ alone who makes our journeys meaningful and purposeful, and He alone gives us a destination worth journeying toward.

You can learn a good deal about us through this web site, but we must also admit that a website can't tell you everything. The church is people, and until you get to know the people of The Journey, you can't really understand what motivates their ministry. So we would encourage you - if anything here stimulates your curiosity, come and join us for worship some week and meet the people of The Journey. We are trying a new thing and we believe God is richly blessing. Enjoy your journey through our site!

What to Expect If You Visit The Journey Church

  1. Hospitality time begins around 10 AM - come for the donuts and coffee,
  2. Worship begins at 10:15 (but don't hold us to the exact second) and we should end by 11:30 (as long as Pastor Paul doesn't get really wound up!),
  3. Dress informally - we're not out to impress anyone, just to enjoy God and one another,
  4. Bring the kids - we've got child care for those up to age ten during worship.
  5. We promise not to embarrass you,
  6. Pastor Paul wants to meet you personally,
  7. Our Worship Music is alive and full of joy (be ready to tap toes and clap hands!), and
  8. Get ready for a GREAT TIME and an experience with God!

Dr. David Carlsen Will Teach at The Journey Church

On Monday night, March 22, at 7 PM, Dr. David Carlsen, Professor of New Testament at Franklin College will be with us to present a Biblical study of "Understanding the Meaning of the Cross". He will be looking at this from two angles: 1) the Biblical teachings, and 2) how the three branches of Christianity (Roman Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant) have celebrated the cross over the centuries.

Dr. Carlsen was with us last year in a teaching about the four gospels, and he was excellent. We are so glad to have him back with us. We will provide child care for this event. It should be over by 8:30 PM.

Make sure to put this date on your calendar as an excellent opportunity to learn about the Word and how it has been interpreted and applied. §

Golf Scramble

Be sure to reserve May 1 for the annual Golf Scramble. We will be at Wood Wind Golf Course and will tee off at 8 AM. We are making this a “celebrity scramble” this year and hope to have many celebs from the local area with us, including TV people, Colts cheerleaders and players, and people in government.

Small Groups

Where can you find a place to share your prayer requests and receive support from caring brothers and sisters? Not only that, where can you find an intimate setting to share about spiritual things? Our small groups afford those opportunities. In addition, they are great fun!

We encourage all members of The Journey Church to attend a small group. Four meet bi-weekly. Contact Pastor Paul, Mary Sims, or Sandy Fettner for the group closest to you.
